EVENTS

Our primary research focus for the community engagement event at Stretford public hall was housing. We aimed to critically analyse aspects of living that people did or did not enjoy to gain insights into people's living conditions that might feed into later design work. In order to gather data regarding housing, we devised a questionnaire that was printed onto a paper template that when folded using instructions could be assembled into a miniature house. The aim of this activity was to collect information in a way that was inclusive and fun for all ages.

EVENT

CONCEPT

The first two questions were designed to gain insight into the portion of the demographic we were collecting data from, to map, categorise and create themes.

1. WHO IS IN YOUR HOUSE?

2. WHERE IS YOUR HOUSE?

The latter three questions were designed to try and encourage the public to think critically and architecturally about their inhabited space.

3. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE

    HOUSEHOLD SPACE?

4. DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM        HOUSE?

5. WHAT COULD BE BETTER        ABOUT YOUR HOUSE?

As well has the house building task, we had a supplement: talking to people. As we are not residents of Stretford, and so lack a comprehensive understanding of what life is like there we wanted to ask questions to gain an insight and further develop our idea of place. We devised a 'skeleton' for the conversation, to give our conversation a focus and to make sure we didn't deviate from relevant issues.
